Irondequoit senior center move referendum (2009)
At issue is whether to move the Irondequoit Senior Recreation Center from 154 Pinegrove Avenue to the Kings Park office complex at 100 Kings Highway South. The town board is in favor of the move, but local residents who oppose the move collected signatures under the state's Permissive Referendum laws, thus forcing the decision to the ballot.
38 petitioners gathered 1,952 signatures.
Greg Devlin and Richard Barone helped circulate petitions. They are concerned that the vote on the question will only take place in one location and that the wording that will appear on the ballot doesn't disclose that the new location will cost more than $4 additional charge, per square foot of the space leased, versus the existing location.
