A Isabella County Parks Levy Implementation measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in August 7, 2012.

This measure was approved

  • YES 3,344 (55.6%)Approveda
  • NO 2,514 (42.2%)[1]

This measure sought to implement a dedicated levy for parks and recreational services in the county set at a rate of $.35 per $1,000 of assessed value for a period of six years in order to fund those services in the county. The Parks and Recreation Director noted that the parks needed its own dedicated levy as the county budget has been decreasing less funding is available. With a dedicated levy there would be assurance that park services can continue. Officials noted that if this measure fails, the county could still attempt to increase its capital levy to help pay for park services.[2]
