J. Allen Carnes was a Republican candidate for Texas Agriculture Commissioner in the 2014 elections.


After graduating from college, Carnes started in the family agriculture business as a field harvest manager. Working his way up through numerous positions he became principal owner and manager. He first became active in agricultural policy making in 2004 and was elected to the Uvalde City Council in 2008. He currently serves as Mayor, a position he was elected to in 2012.[1]

Carnes ran for election to the office of Texas Agriculture Commissioner. Carnes lost the Republican nomination in the primary on March 4, 2014.[2]
