Jabar Shumate (b. January 26, 1976) is a Democratic member of the Oklahoma State Senate representing District 11. He was previously a member of the House representing District 73, and served as Assistant Minority Floor Leader.

Shumate is a senator-elect of the Oklahoma State Senate.

Shumate earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs/Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He works as a public relations consultant and is a former press secretary for University of Oklahoma.

Shumate ran in the 2012 election for Oklahoma Senate District 11. Shumate defeated Joe Williams in the Democratic primary on June 26. He defeated Dave Bell and Curtis J. Mullins in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]
