Doyle is a former carrier pilot and retired Navy veteran. He served in the Persian Gulf and achieved the rank of Captain in the Naval Reserves.[1]

He is the former two-term Mayor of Santee, California.[1]

Doyle ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing California's 1st District. He was defeated in the June 5, 2012, open primary.[2][3]
