Chappell ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Idaho's 2nd District. Chappell was defeated in seeking the nomination on the Democratic ticket. [1] Chappell was defeated by Nicole LeFavour in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Mike Simpson defeated M.C. Heileson in the Republican primary. Candidates wishing to run were required to file by the signature filing deadline of March 9, 2012. The primary elections were held on May 15, 2012.[2]
