James Byrd (b. March 14, 1954) is a Democratic member of the Wyoming House of Representatives, representing District 44 since 2009. Beginning in 2013, Byrd serves as Minority Whip.

Byrd attended both Laramie County Community College and the University of Wyoming.

Byrd has worked in the following positions: Security Consultant, Computer Network Design, Exploration Geophysicist for the Compagnie Générale de Géophysique and American Oil Company (British Petroleum/Amoco), Contract Computer Project Manager for Communication Systems Interactive, and Software for American Express, Cargill, and Network Assessment and Optimization Group.[1]

Byrd won re-election in the 2012 election for the Wyoming House of Representatives District 44. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on August 21[2] and defeated Tom Zachary (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3]
