James Davenport was a Republican candidate for District 44 of the Oklahoma State Senate. The primary election was on July 27, 2010 and the general election was on November 2.

Davenport defeated three opponents in the Republican primary on July 27, defeating his closest opponent, Ralph Shortey, by a margin of 1,239-941. However, Davenport fell to Shortey in the August 24 runoff primary. Shortey defeated Randy Rose (D) in the general election.
