Prior to joining the House, Dwyer served on the Woburn City Council from 2006-2008. He has also been Assistant Chief Probation Officer of Middlesex, and Vice Chair/Treasurer of the Woburn Housing Authority.
Dwyer is a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, CMARC Board of Directors, Woburn Host Lions Club, Woburn Domestic Violence Task Force, and the Woburn Mayor's Youth Task Force.[1]

Dwyer won re-election in the 2012 election for Massachusetts House of Representatives Thirtieth Middlesex District. Dwyer was unopposed in the September 6 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]
2010
Dwyer won re-election to the Thirtieth Middlesex Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He defeated Kara Fratto (R) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[3]
