James Eckhardt is a former Republican member of the Vermont House of Representatives, representing Rutland-Windsor-1 from 2011 to 2013.

Eckhardt is the owner of Censor Security, Inc. He was selected by Governor Jim Douglas to serve on the Vermont Board of Private Investigative and Security Services, which he now chairs.

Eckhardt attended Brastow School and graduated from Otter Valley High School.[1]

Eckhardt ran for re-election in the 2012 election for Vermont House of Representatives Rutland-Windsor 1. Eckhardt was unopposed in the August 28 Republican primary and was defeated by Anne Gallivan (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

Personal

Eckhardt was the recipient of the 2005-2006 Small Business Champion Award. He chairs the Rutland County Pro-Business Coalition and the Leadership Council of the Vermont chapter of the National Federatio of Independent Business. He and his wife, Louise, have three children and live in Chittenden.
