Biography
Mills served as an assistant to the State Attorney General's Office from 1976 to 1980, prosecuting homicides and other major crimes. This was the first time a woman had held such a position with the AG's office.

Maine Attorney General (2009-2011)
Mills was the Democratic Attorney General of Maine from 2009 until 2010. First elected to the position by the Maine State Legislature in 2009, she is the first woman in the state's history to hold the office.
Maine House of Representatives (2002-2009)
Mills joined the Maine House of Representatives for the 89th District starting in 2002. During her tenure, she served on the Judiciary, Criminal Justice, and Appropriations committees. It was in the midst of her fourth term in office that she was chosen by the Joint Convention in December 2008 as one of several candidates under consideration to be the 55th State Attorney General.
District Attorney (1980-1995)
In 1980, Mills was elected as District Attorney for the counties of Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford, subsequently being re-elected to the position three times. Mills was the first woman to serve as a district attorney in the New England area and one of the first in the entire country.

Mills was elected as the 57th Attorney General of Maine by a Joint Convention of the Maine Legislature in December 2012.[2]
2008
Mills was elected as the 55th Attorney General of Maine by the Maine Legislature in December 2008, besting John Brautigam (D) and Sean Faircloth (D).[3]

Personal
Mills currently resides in Farmington, Maine with her husband, Stanley Kuklinski. The couple has no biological children together, but rather five stepchildren in addition to three grandsons.
