Previously, Kohl-Welles served in the Washington State House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994. From 1993 to 1994 she was the Majority Whip.[1]
Biography
Kohl-Welles earned her BA in Education from the California State University, Northridge in 1965. She went on to earn her MA in 1970. She later received her MA in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1973. The next year she earned her PhD in Sociology of Education. In 2001, Kohl-Welles was in the Fannie Mae Foundation Fellowship, Senior Executives in State and Local Government from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Kohl-Welles is a lecturer, researcher, author, and consultant for the University of Washington. Previously, she was Assistant Dean of Students/Coordinator of Women's Programs for the University of California, Irvine. She has also worked as program manager for Project Equity for the Desegregation Assistance Center Region IX, United States Department of Education. Kohl-Welles has been a teacher at Los Angeles Unified School District, and then became an assistant professor for Pacific Lutheran University, followed by a position as lecturer for the California State University/Chapman College/Los Angeles Community College District/University of California, Irvine.
