Ives won election in the 2012 election for Illinois House of Representatives District 42. Ives defeated Dave Carlin, Chris Hage and Laura M. Pollastrini in the March 20 Republican primary and defeated William R. Adams (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]
