Hickman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 1996. A farmer, he is a former volunteer first responder for the Alfalfa County Emergency Medical Service; former vice president for the Omni Media Group; and former press secretary for the University of Oklahoma, Office of the President. He and his wife, Jana, have two children: Taylor and Ashley.
