He and district 17 incumbent Sam Farr (D) advanced past the June 5, 2012, blanket primary, defeating Mike LeBarre (R), Art Dunn (D), Eric Petersen (G), Dan Caudle (Ind), and Ronald Paul Kabat (Ind). They faced off in the November 6, 2012, general election and Farr won.[1][2][3]
