  • High Speed Rail
In a May 2012 interview, Ong said that she would vote to support the continued funding of high speed rail. She said that she would try to find savings in the budget by finding efficiencies in state agencies and eliminating the death penalty.[1]
  • Budget Cuts
In a May 2012 interview, Ong declared that any cuts to social services in the state budget should be supplanted by job opportunities. Specifically, with regard to budget cuts, she said that continued investments in health care and the youth are key.[1]

In a May 2012 interview, Ong defended the power of voters to support specific policies via referendum, despite the limits it places on the legislature. She said she considered it a valuable way for voters to force the legislature to act on policy.[1]

Ong ran in the 2012 election for California State Assembly District 20. She advanced past the June 5, 2012 blanket primary, defeating Sarabjit Kaur Cheema (D), Luis Reynoso (R), and Mark Green (I). Ong was defeated by Bill Quirk (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3][4]
