A Jennings Sales Tax Renewal measure was on the March 27, 2010 ballot in the city of Jennings which is in Jefferson Davis Parish.

This measure was approved'

  • YES' 712 (80%)Approveda
  • NO 175 (20%)[1]

This measure sought to renew a one percent sales tax that is currently in place but is set to expire. The money generated form this tax will go towards various city public works, such as fire and police services. Although the ballot language does not state that the tax is a renewal, city officials assure voters it is the same tax that was passed in 1977, legal issues kept the words "renewal" and "continuation" off of the ballot. Officials hoped that by educating the public this tax will be able to pass since it was nothing new.[2]
