McGinley ran in the 2012 election for Wisconsin State Assembly District 71. She was defeated by Katrina Shankland in the Democratic primary on August 14, 2012. Patrick Testin ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Incumbent Democrat Louis Molepske, Jr. is not running for re-election. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1]
