Banks won election to the 17th district seat in the November 2nd general election. Banks ran unopposed and received 29,356 votes. [2] Republican incumbent Gary Dillon did not run for re-election.
In the May 4 primary election, Banks defeated his Republican primary opponent Tom Wall by a margin of 12,458-7,279.[3]
