Nielson is an owner and chief financial officer of CRSA, an architecture firm focused on the higher education sector. He worked from 1982 to 1988 in the Reagan administration's Office of Management and Office of the Secretary. He received a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University and an M.S. in architecture from the University of Oregon.
