Franzen ran in the 2012 election for Illinois House of Representatives District 45. Franzen was unopposed in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012, and was defeated by Dennis Reboletti in the November 6 general election.[2][3][4]

Franzen was the Democratic candidate for District 45 of the Illinois House of Representatives in the state's November 2, 2010 general election. She lost in the general election to incumbent Republican Franco Coladipietro.[5]
