Jody Amedee is a Republican member of the Louisiana State Senate, representing District 18. Formerly a Democrat, Amedee switched parties in March 2011. [1]

Amedee joined the Louisiana State Senate in 2003. She has served in that position since, representing the 18th district.

Amedee has worked in the following positions: Laborer for Rubicon Chemical, Law Clerk for Louisiana State Senate, Founder of District Attorney's Juvenile Probation Program, Assistant District Attorney, and Attorney for Ascension Parish Tourist Commission.

Amedee ran for re-election in 2011. She was unopposed in the October 22 primary. Because Louisiana uses a blanket primary system, a candidate can be declared the overall winner of the seat by garnering 50 percent +1 of the vote in the primary. However, if no candidate reaches this threshold, then a general election would have taken place on November 19, 2011 between the top-two vote getters.[2]
