Joe Paskvan (b. May 19, 1952) is a former Democratic member of the Alaska State Senate, representing the E District from 2009 to 2013. Paskvan was defeated in his bid for re-election in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1]
Paskvan received a B.A. in political science from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks in 1975. He later earned a J.D. from University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1981.[2]
The majority of Paskvan's professional experience has come as an attorney, working for Rice, Hoppner, Brown, & Brunner from 1981-1986. He later began his own firm, Paskvan & Ringstad PC, in 1986. He was also the manager of the bar, Tommy’s Elbow Room, in Fairbanks from 1973-1978.[3] Paskvan is a new senator with little previous political experience.

Paskvan ran for re-election in the 2012 election for Alaska State Senate District 2 (B). He ran unopposed in the August 28, 2012, Democratic primary and was defeated by Pete Kelly (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5][6]

In 2008 Paskvan was elected to the Alaska State Senate, District E. Paskvan edged out Cynthia Henry in a close race by taking 5,861 votes (51.81%) while Henry finished with 5,422 votes (47,93%).[7] Paskvan raised $107,395 for his campaign fund.[8]
