In the event of re-election, Read said he would pursue his bill which would establish a state-owned bank, as well as the protection of funds used during wildfires, and the expansion of responsible natural resource development.[1]

Read ran for re-election in the 2012 election for Montana House of Representatives, District 15. Read ran unopposed in the June 5 primary election and was defeated by Frosty Calf Boss Ribs (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
