2010 election
As of November 2009, two Nebraska politicians are vying for the Democratic nomination to challenge John Gale in 2010 – Kris Pierce and Janet Stewart. It is highly unusual for the state’s Democratic Party to have competition in the primary for Secretary of State considering they have no nominees for Attorney General, Auditor, Treasurer, or even Governor going into 2010.[2]
