John Carpenter (b. October 13, 1930) was a Republican member of the Nevada Assembly. He represented the 33rd District from 1986 to 2010. State term limits disqualified him from re-election in 2010.

Carpenter owned Ranchers Realty from 1988 to 2004; Cimarron West from 1985 to 2004; Carpenter Ranch from 1965 to 2004; and was manager of Magnuson Ranch from 1949 to 1965. He and his wife, Roseann, have seven children: John, Scott, Elizabeth, Susan, Lois, Douglas and Linda.

On November 4, 2008, Carpenter won re-election to the District 33 Seat in the Nevada Assembly, defeating Zachary Triggs.[1]
