Fritchey is an attorney, and has been an Adjunct Lecturer in Political Science at Northwestern University, and Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois.
He is a member of the Chicago Gateway Green Committee and Holy Name Cathedral, Founder of the John Fritchey Youth Foundation, and Vice President of the John G. Shedd Aquarium Auxiliary Society.[2]

Fritchey did not run for re-election to the 11th District Seat in 2010. He ran for an open seat on the Cook County Board that vacated by Commissioner Forrest Claypool[3]. Fritchey won election to the Board on November 2, 2010[4].
