John Griffin is the Maryland Secretary of Natural Resources. He has currently served in this position since March 15, 2007, after previously holding the position from March 17, 1995 to July 23, 1999.[1]

Biography

Griffin first entered public service in 1972, serving as committee staff director of the Prince George's County Council until 1978. From 1974-1978 he was a senior advisor to Governor Harry Hughes. Griffin then became deputy secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources from 1984-1995, when he was appointed to serve his first stint as Maryland Secretary of Natural Resources under Gov. Parris N. Glendening. Leaving the post in 1999, he was General Manager of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission and Associate Vice President of Buchart Horn Incorporated before being re-named to the position of Natural Resources Secretary in 2007.[2]
