Hambrick was certified in Fraud Examination by the University of Minnesota; he attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, Georgia; and attended the Border Patrol Academy in Brownsville, Texas. He is a retired investigator for the Federal Inspector's General Office; former agent for Immigration and Naturalization Service; former chief investigator for the Nevada Board of Osteopathic Medicine; and served with the Presidential Protection Detail for the United States Secret Service. Hambrick and his wife, Nancy, have two children: Laura and John.

Hambrick ran in the 2012 election for Nevada State Assembly, District 2. Hambrick ran unopposed in the June 12 primary election and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3][4]

On November 2, 2010 Hambrick was re-elected to the Nevada House of Representatives. He defeated Annie Black in the June 8 primary by a margin of 2,866-1,359. Hambrick bested David Lerner and John Kamerath in the general election.
