John House was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House representing the 2nd Congressional District of Georgia. House defeated Rick Allen in the Republican runoff on August 21, 2012.[1] He lost to incumbent Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2]

Career
Since retirement from the Army, House has worked as a consultant and Army civilian employee while traveling extensively throughout the United States.[3] House founded JM Planning & Research, a small business specializing in Defense Department industry consulting.[3]
Elections
2012
House ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Georgia's 2nd District. House won the nomination on the Republican ticket. [4] Candidates wishing to run were required to file by the signature filing deadline of May 25, 2012. The primary elections were held on July 31, 2012. He and Rick Allen won the Republican primary and advanced to a run-off election.[5] House defeated Allen in the Republican runoff primary on August 21, 2012, but lost to incumbent Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. in the general election on November 6, 2012.[6].[7]
