Laird will not be running for election in 2012. Laird had previously indicated that he would run for election to District 15 of the State Senate in 2012. Laird lost to Sam Blakeslee in a 2010 special election for the seat, and had filed a statement that he will once again challenge Blakeslee. However he has changed his mind and decided not to run for the seat in 2012.[1]
