McKeon graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1980 and earned his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1983. He works as an attorney and partner with the firm of Hardin, Kundla, McKeon, Poletto and Polifroni. He is also the mayor of the Township of West Orange, a position he has held since 1998.[1]

2011
McKeon won re-election in 2011. He and incumbent Mila Jasey were bracketed together and defeated Ellen Steinberg in the Democratic Primary on June 7. They then defeated Lee Holtzman and Nicole Hagner in the November 8 general election.[3]
2009
McKeon successfully won re-election in the November 3, 2009 general election. He was bracketed with Mila Jasey and defeated Republican challengers Mark Meyerowitz and Barry Funt.[4][5]
