John Pippy has been a Republican member of the Pennsylvania State Senate since 2003. Pippy won a special election in November of 2003 and was re-elected in 2004 and in 2008 with his term expiring in 2012. Pippy also served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1996 to 2003 and was a former Commissioner of the Port Authority of Pittsburgh.

Pippy graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1992 and served three years of active duty from 1992 to 1995. Pippy is a former Environmental Engineer.
