John Wieder was a 2012 Libertarian candidate who sought election to the U.S. House representing the 9th Congressional District of Texas.
Wieder was defeated by Democratic incumbent Al Green on November 6, 2012.[1]
Biography
Wieder graduated from Keesler AFB in 1969. He went on to receive his AAS in Computer Science and Real Estate from the College of Mainland in 1976. Wieder then earned his BBA from the University of Houston.
Wieder served in the United States Air Force and is a Vietnam veteran. He has worked as a real estate broker and insurance broker.[2]

Wieder stated the following about his political philosophy in a bio submission to Ballotpedia:[2]
"Stop Abortion, Free the innocent in Jail, Smaller Government (but with saftey net for individuals, not corporations), Fair Tax (includes no tax option), Prayer back in School, Solve immigration(includes required seminars to teach american living, leaving the barrio behind, ect), Cut foreign aid, get out of the wars(including United Nations), Responsive to all, Liberty and Justice for all, One nation, under GOD.... "

Wieder ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Texas' 9th District. He ran as a Libertarian candidate. He ran against Steve Mueller (R), incumbent Al Green (D), and Vanessa Foster (G) in the November 6, 2012, general election.[3]
