Johnny Ellis (b. March 13, 1960) is a Democratic member of the Alaska State Senate, representing District I since 1993. He currently serves as the Senate Minority Leader. Previously he was a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 1986 through 1992.

Ellis earned a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College in 1982.

Ellis has served in the Alaska State Senate since 1992. During that time, he has served as the minority leader (1998-2008) and the majority leader (2008-2012). Prior to the senate, Ellis served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 1986-1992.

Ellis won re-election in the 2012 election for Alaska State Senate District 9 (I). He ran unopposed in the August 28, 2012 Democratic primary and defeated Paul Kendall (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]
