Jon McKinney is a former commissioner of the West Virginia Public Service Commission. He was appointed to a six-year term in August 2005.[1]

Although McKinney's term expired June 30, 2011, he was neither re-appointed nor replaced and the governor's office did not offer an explanation.[2] McKinney resigned from the commission in December 2014 and a spokesman for Governor Earl Ray Tomblin (D) noted that McKinney remained in office due to a state law that allowed continued service in lieu of a replacement.[3]
