Madden ran in the 2012 election for Texas House of Representatives, District 137. Gene Wu and Jamaal R. Smith defeated Madden and Sarah Winkler in the May 29 primary election, and will face each other in the July 31 primary runoff election. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
