Joseph Compretta (b. March 17, 1945) is a former Democratic member, and Speaker Pro Tempore of the Mississippi House of Representatives. He represented the 122nd District from 1976-1984 and 1988-2012.

Compretta is an attorney. He has also been an assistant district attorney and county/city prosecutor. He earned his J.D. from the Mississippi College School of Law, B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi, and AA from Pearl River Junior College.

Compretta is a member of the Hancock Bar Association, Lions Club, Mississippi Arts Fair for the Handicapped, and Mississippi Bar Association.[1]
