Tiraco ran in the 2012 election for New York State Senate District 15. He was defeated by Eric A. Ulrich in the Independence primary on September 13, 2012.[1][2]

Tiraco was a 2010 Independence Party candidate for District 28 of the New York State Assembly. Tiraco was uncontested in the September 14 Republican primary. He was defeated by incumbent Andrew Hevesi (D) in the general election on November 2.[3]
