Reasons for recall
Adam Ford organized the recall effort. He said, "He's my councilman. I'm disappointed in the failed leadership we have in Flint. I was a supporter until this (emergency manager) thing came up. I thought they should have just done their job." The petition language stated "City Councilman Joshua M. Freeman voted for a state takeover." [1]
Freeman's response
Freeman said, "I'm going to go out and I'm going to vigorously defend my name and reputation on the City Council." [2]
Path to the ballot
Petition language against Freeman was approved,[1] but signatures were never submitted.
