Personal
Stein earned his BA in History from Dartmouth College. He went on to receive his JD/MPP in Law/Public Policy from Harvard University in 1995.
Stein was a teacher for Danhiko High School, Zimbabwe, from 1988 to 1990. He was then an employee for Culbreth Park Affordable Housing Project from 1990 to 1991. He went on to become a Real Estate Project Manager for Self-Help Credit Union from 1995 to 1997. He was also Development Director for the North Carolina Minority Credit Union Support Center during this time. He has been Senior Deputy Attorney General of the Consumer Protection Division for Attorney General Ray Cooper since 2001.
Stein and his wife Anna have three children.
