Julian M. Carroll (b. April 16, 1931) is a Democratic member of the Kentucky State Senate, representing District 7. He was first elected to the chamber in 2004. Carroll served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1962 to 1971, acting as Speaker of the House from 1968 to 1971. He then served as Lieutenant Governor for the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1972 to 1975. In 1975 he served as Acting Governor briefly. Carroll then became Governor in 1976 and served in that position until 1980.

Biography

Carroll earned his B.A .from the University of Kentucky and his L.L.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law. His professional experience includes serving as Lay Minister for the First Assembly of God.

Carroll won re-election in the 2012 election for Kentucky State Senate District 7. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on May 22, 2012, and defeated Frank Haynes (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
