Griffith-Flatter ran in the 2012 election for California State Senate District 1. She and incumbent Ted Gaines (R) advanced past the blanket primary on June 5, 2012, defeating Les Baugh (R) and Bogdan Ambrozewicz (I). She was defeated in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
