An effort to recall Julie McConathy from her position as a school board member of the Rapides Parish School Board, Louisiana, was launched in June 2012.[1] No recall election took place.

The catalyst for recall was McConathy's May vote to not renew the contract of Superintendent Gary L. Jones. McConathy also had a grievance filed against her by a Rapides Parish School District employee.[2] Recall organizers said that McConathy was in the process of moving out of the parish, making her ineligible to represent her current parish. McConathy said her official residence remains in Rapides Parish.[1]
