The Kansas Chairman of Corporation Commission is a three member board in the Kansas state government. Commissioners are selected by gubernatorial appointment, and one member is elected to serve as chair. The commission's mission is "to protect the public interest through impartial, efficient, and transparent resolution of all jurisdictional issues; and by participating in other forums and tribunals where articulated state policy objectives are at issue."^[1]

Current officeholder

The current chairman is Mark Sievers, while Thomas E. Wright and Shari Feist Albrecht are commissioners.^[2]

The commission is established by Kansas Statute, Chapter 66, Article 1:

Electric public utilities; power, authority and jurisdiction of state corporation commission. The commission is given full power, authority and jurisdiction to supervise and control the electric public utilities, as defined in K.S.A. 66-101a, doing business in Kansas, and is empowered to do all things necessary and convenient for the exercise of such power, authority and jurisdiction.
