Kusiak earned her B.S. from Colby College, M.S. from Lesley University and Ed.D. from the University of Maine.[2]

Kusiak won election in the 2012 election for Maine House of Representatives District 84. Kusiak defeated Edward Finch in the June 12 Democratic primary and defeated incumbent John Picchiotti (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5]
