Tallian was a candidate for Superior Court Judge of Porter County in 2000 but was not elected. She was then appointed to the Indiana State Senate in December of 2005. She has served in that position since, representing the 4th district.
Tallian is a former Adjunct Professor for Valparaiso University Law School. She is a former attorney for the Portage Township Trustee, the Portage Fire Department, the Porter County Plan Commission, and the Board of Zoning Appeals. From 1989 to 1993 she was an attorney for Hilbnich Law. She then worked as an attorney for Bruce Clark and Associates from 1993 to 1998. She has been attorney/Partner for Eberhard and Gastineau since 1998.
Tallian earned her Associate's from Harrington Institute of Design. She went on to receive her BA in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of Chicago in 1972. She then earned her JD from Valparaiso University in 1990.
