Biography
Ivey was raised on her family's farm in Camden, Alabama. She attended Auburn University, Duke University's Governor's Center for Public Policy, Alabama Banking School, and the University of Colorado School of Banking. Her educational background led her down multiple career paths. Ivey worked as a high school teacher, a bank officer, and as Assistant Director of the Alabama Development Office, where she used her leadership skills to initiate new jobs across the state.[2]
In addition to her professional duties, Ivey is a member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery, the Montgomery Rotary Club, the Board of Directors of the Montgomery YMCA, and the Tukabatchee Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Political Career
Lieutenant Governor (2010-present)
Ivey was elected to the post of Alabama's Lieutenant Governor on November 2, 2010. She was the first Republican woman to be elected Lieutenant Governor in the state's history.[3]

Kay Ivey endorsed Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election. [4]
Treasurer (2002-2010)
Ivey was first elected to statewide office in 2002, defeating Democratic opponent Stephen Foster Black in the general election to win the seat of State Treasurer of Alabama. She served two terms in this office before becoming Lt. Governor.
