Keizer City Retail Development Question (March 2011)
This measure was defeated
- YES 4,008 (49.79%)
- NO 4,042 (50.21%)
This measure was brought forth by a citizens petition which sought to limit the size of retail buildings in the city, except in the developed part of Keizer station. The proposal would have made it so that buildings larger than 65,000 square feet would not be allowed to be built. The question of what would exactly fall under this criteria was not entirely clear, the definition of a 'retail' building was to be left to interpretation by the city's development code. It was also noted that those buildings larger than the alloted square footage would not be affected by this measure, it would have only applied to new buildings.
