Burzynski earned his BS from Southern Illinois University in 1972. He then worked for SLS Management from 1980 to 1988 and again from 1997 to 2004. From 2004 to 2007, he worked in economic development for Franklin Regional Economic Development. He then owned County Seat Antique Mall from 2003 to 2008.

Burzynski ran in the 2012 election for Illinois State Senate District 59. Burzynski was defeated by Mark Minor in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012. Incumbent Gary Forby defeated Fred Kondritz in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]
